WHAT WE BELIEVE
1. ABOUT GOD
We believe in God. We believe that God is eternal. We believe that God is sovereign. We believe that God created all things and sustains all things. We believe that God is a divine tri-unity distinctly identified in the Scriptures as The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. These three, although distinct, are one in relationship, nature, desire, and purpose. We believe that God is love. (Genesis 1:1; 1 Timothy 1:17; Nehemiah 9:5-6; Acts 17:28; Deuteronomy 6:4; Luke 3:22; 1 John 4:8)
2. ABOUT THE FATHER
We believe that God the Father is Spirit. We believe that all creation came into being as He spoke it. We believe that He is almighty. We believe that He rules from His throne in Heaven. We believe that He is the head of the divine tri-unity relationship. We believe that He knows all, sees all, and is over all. We believe that He is the Supreme and Ultimate Judge of the living and the dead. We believe His most overwhelming attribute is love. (John 4:24; Genesis 1:3-27; Matthew 6:9; Revelation 4:8; Revelation 4:2-4; Matthew 6:3-4; 1 Corinthians 11:3; Ephesians 4:6; Revelation 21:11-15; John 3:16)
3. ABOUT THE SON
We believe that Jesus Christ is God. We believe that He was intimately involved in all of creation. We believe He relates to God the Father as Son. We believe that He came to the earth as a man, being born of a virgin, to deliver mankind from their sins, as well as show us how to live a life that pleases God. We believe that He never sinned. We believe He died on the cross to pay for the sins of all mankind. We believe He rose from the dead on the third day. We believe He ascended to Heaven after His resurrection. We believe that He intercedes to God on the behalf of Christians. We believe He’s coming back again as the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords to set up His Kingdom here on earth. (John 1:1, 3; John 3:35; Luke 1:34-35; John 1:14; 1 John 2:2; John 13:15; 2 Corinthians 5:21; John 3:16; Acts 10:40; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25; Revelation 19:11-16; Revelation 20:6)
4. ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit is God along with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer certain spiritual gifts to be used in the building up of the Church. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily. (Luke 3:22; John 16:7-13; 1 Corinthians 2:11; 1 Corinthians 12:13; John 16:13; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; 1 Corinthians 14:12; Romans 8:14)
5. ABOUT THE BIBLE
We believe the Bible. We believe the Bible is the tangible Word of God. We believe the Bible is true. We believe the Bible reveals to us God’s existence, His power, His character, His wisdom, His plan, His purpose, and His love. We believe that the Bible is our source for doctrine, government, authority, and lifestyle. (2 Timothy 3:16; John 17:17; Psalm 119)
6. ABOUT HUMAN BEINGS
We believe that people were created by God and in the image of God. We believe that through the sin of Adam, the entire human race inherited a corrupt nature, and, therefore, became spiritually dead and separated from God, who is holy. We believe that on our own, we are entirely incapable of remedying our fallen and sinful condition. (Genesis 1:26; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 7:21-25)
7. ABOUT SALVATION
We believe that because God loves us, He provided a way to remedy our fallen, sinful, spiritually dead condition. He did this by sending His own son Jesus Christ to the earth as a man to die on the cross for mankind’s sin. After dying for us, He also rose again from the dead to prove that, through Him, even death can be overcome. While salvation is offered freely to everyone, it is not automatic. A person must put their trust in Christ to receive it. It is only through faith in Christ’s death and resurrection that a person can be reconciled to God and made spiritually alive. (John 3:16; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Ephesians 2:1-8; Hebrews 2:14-15; 2 Timothy 2:8-11; 2 Corinthians 15:20-23, 54-57; Romans 10:9-13; John 1:12; Acts 2:21; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Romans 1:16; John 3:14-18)
8. ABOUT ETERNITY
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God in a lake of fire, or eternally with God in a place of happiness. The lake of fire is a literal place of eternal torment, created for Satan and his angels. However, we are condemned to go there also because of our rebellion against God through our sin. If, however, we choose to receive God’s free gift of salvation through Jesus, we will spend eternity with God. (Revelation 21:3-4, 11-15; Matthew 25:41; Romans 6:23)
